ZombieMutex

About the person behind ZombieMutex

Jeffrey Monica

Engineer, writer, and the person behind ZombieMutex.

I build and investigate software across iOS, Android, backend systems and security. I also write about travel, food, hiking, photography and the interesting parts of life that have nothing to do with a terminal. ZombieMutex is where both sides meet.

How I work

My work spans native mobile applications, authenticated APIs, backend services, production reliability, and the security boundaries between them. I've worked with Swift, Kotlin, client and server authentication flows, secure storage, device integrity signals, observability, and release pipelines.

I prefer understanding how a system actually behaves: identifying the trust boundary, reproducing failure conditions, implementing a change, and verifying it with tests and operational evidence. The project notes and writing on ZombieMutex are a place to explore those technical decisions without turning the site into a business pitch.
